What are the service charges applicable for RTGS/NEFT transactions?
No Service Charges are levied on RTGS/NEFT transactions
If an NEFT transaction is not credited to a beneficiary account, does the Remitter get back the money?
Yes. If the beneficiary’s bank is unable to credit the beneficiary’s account for any reason, the former will return the money to the remitting bank within 2 hours of completion of the batch in which the transaction was processed. Once the amount is received by the remitting bank, it is credited to the remitter’s account by the branch concerned
When does the beneficiary get the credit for a NEFT payment?
As stated above, NEFT operates in half hourly batches. Currently there are 48 settlements on all days including holidays. Therefore, the beneficiary can expect to get the credit for the transactions on the same day
When does the beneficiary get the credit for a RTGS payment?
Under normal circumstances the beneficiary Bank branch receives the funds in real time as soon as funds are transferred by the remitting Bank. The beneficiary Bank has to credit the beneficiary’s account within two hours of receiving the funds transfer message
What is Inter Bank Transfer?
Inter Bank Transfer enables electronic transfer of funds from the account of the remitter in one Bank to the account of the beneficiary maintained with any other Bank branch. There are two systems of Inter Bank Transfer – RTGS and NEFT. Both these systems are maintained by Reserve Bank of India
How to Link your Aadhaar Card?
The Government of India mandates linking Aadhaar to your bank account. The Prevention of Money Laundering (Maintenance of Records) Act, 2005 (“PML Act 2005”) has been amended [as per Government of India Gazette No. 13012/79/2017/Legal-UIDAI (No. 4 of 2017)], Mandatory Aadhaar for every bank account came into force from 1st June 2017. All existing Bank accounts need to be linked with the respective Aadhaar number. The customer, who has not been assigned Aadhaar number as yet, needs to submit the proof of application towards enrolment for Aadhaar to the Bank.

I do not have a bank account. But I need to make a remittance. Is KYC applicable to me?
Yes. KYC exercise needs to be done for all those who want to make domestic remittances of Rs. 50,000 and above and all foreign remittances
Do I have to furnish KYC documents for each account I open in the bank even though I have furnished the documents of proof of identity and address?
No, if you have opened an account with a bank, which is KYC complied, then for opening another account with the same bank, furnishing of documents is not necessary

What does the customer need to know while opening of SB Account?
The objective of the Savings Bank is to encourage private individuals to deposit their savings with the bank by allowing interest on the account. Normally, a bank may not allow opening of more than one SB account in the name of the customer or jointly with others.
Bank charges and service tax are applicable for issue of chequebooks, duplicate passbook, cheque return and for standing instructions. Nomination facility is there in SB account where the account holder can nominate a person

What happens if I don’t use my Savings/Current account for a very long time?
The account becomes inactive if there are no customer initiated transactions in the account for a continuous period of 1 year and dormant if there are no customer initiated transactions (excludes system generated transactions like credit interest, debit interest) in the account for a continuous period of two years
